All Popular Features At Ak-Sar-Ben Retained Tuesdays and Fridays Will Be Ladies Days Again This Year OMAHA, Neb., May 18. All regular features of Ak-Sar-Bens spring running races that have proved popular with fans in former years will be retained on an even bigger and better scale when the 1942 meeting opens at the Omaha track on Tuesday, May 26, for a thirty-day program extending through Saturday, July 4, W. H. Schellberg, racing chairman, announced tpday. I Foremost among these, Schellberg points out, will be ladies days on Tuesdays and Fridays and special guest days each week of the meeting. On ladies days the fair sex are admitted on payment only of a 30-cent tax and service charge, he explains. Special guest days will bring to the Ak-, Sar-Ben track thousands of visitors from every section of Nebraska and western Iowa on days especially dedicated to their communities. The schedule of 1942 guest days will soon be announced, officials say, and tickets will be available from the Ak-Sar-Ben ambassador in each community. "Inviting our neighbors from outside of Omaha to be our guests on racing days is just one of many ways in which Ak-Sar-Ben fosters a spirit of friendliness and cooperation among the various communities in our territory," Schellberg comments. "Racing fans in almost every section of Nebraska and western Iowa have come to look forward to their annual visit to the AktSar-Ben track in Omaha." This year fans will find the oval faster than ever. The track has been completely rebuilt since last fall and is second to none in this part of the country, declares superintendent Jim Ronin. Patrons will also find, ship-shape and waiting to accomodate them, the largest free paved parking area in America at Ak-Sar-Ben Field, where the track is located. The Daily Double will be continued during the coming season on the first and second race each day. There will be no program on Sundays or Mondays. Seven or eight events, many of them over the longer routes, will be offered daily.
