SATCHEL, forced to race on the inside to maintain a forward position, went into the lead turning out of the back stretch, shook off FANCY FRILLS and then had enough in reserve to stall off WISHIHADAGAL. The latter, improving her position camely when in full stride, came to the outside for the drive and finished full of run. FANCY FRILLS, "hard ridden after the break, lost the lead and tired slowly in the closing test. SOME WHERE could not reach the leaders at any time. PEGGY FINN showed speed for the first three-eighths. SHANTY BOAT and MERCILESS could not untrack themselves. MATHORA, under slight restraint while in pursuit of INCENTOR, swung, around the pacemaker midway of the back stretch to" assume command, was kept out in the firmer footing and, holding on stoutly, outstayed PORT MELODY. The latter, allowed to settle in stride while racing prominently, stole through on the inside in the last three-sixteenths and was wearing the winner down slowly. INCENTOR, displaced after three-eighths, held on well in the I drive. G. C. HAMILTON improved his position, but could not threaten. NASSAUS BEAU was, never -dangerous and lost ground. SWEET MISS had no excuses. MANNALIGHT flattened away after a half. CLIFTONS DOT did not fancy the footing. Won driving; second and third the same. JALAINE, moving to the front at the first turn, was kept in the better footing wherever possible, responded to punishment in the drive and outstayed RING UP. The latter, hustled hard and engaging the leaders rounding the last turn, came willingly under a severe drive. BRAZEN HUSSY, steered into the deep footing next the inner rail, fell back slowly, then rallied to finish well in the drive. BOATS CREW was a stout factor for five-eighths, then tired as if short. CLAY HILL was ridden haid, but could not enter contention. BABY BONNET lacked speed. DUPLIKET was always outrun. SMART LAD set a good pace, failed to draw clear and tired gradually when caught. GOLD SWEEP, slow to get going and trailing early, circled his field and was rapidly wearihg down the winner near the end. DIVIDEND, never far from the leaders, made a stout challenge at the stretch turn and continued gamely in the drive. TAR MISS finished strongly after a slow beginning. SHOWABAL, well placed early, tired in the last three-sixteenths. ELTONHEAD was used up forcing the pace. SOUR CHERRY showed little. QUESTRE could not keep up. SIR JEROME, hard ridden all the way, saved some ground and continued well to outstay BARDY. The latter closed gamely in the last half. WHITE HOT fell back soon after the start, then failed to menace while out in the better footing. FITZEDWARD, rated close to the winner, was shaken up vigorously in the last five-sixtenths, swerved out ,at the stretch turn, carrying DARBY DU wide, then finished gamely on the extreme outside. DARBY DU, permitted to fall far out of contention, circled around his company to enter contention, went to the inside after being carried wide by FITZEDWARD at the stretch turn, but could no menace seriously in the drive. BAR SHIP, displaced after going three-quarters, fell back gradually, then, rallying .gamely in the closing stages, was fast overhauling the winner, being inclined to lug in during the last sixteenth while on the outside of the winner. MISS SELECTION, rushed hard to get into the lead, failed to draw clear and tired steadily. BLENETHEL was stoutly handled, but could not engage the leaders. WEST SEA had clear racing room and met with no mishaps. TAR ANNE failed to hold on. HEART PLAY was never dangerous. WAR SORROW raced in dull fashion.
