Thirteen Cars of Horses Leave Downs for Other Racing Points Lincoln Fields, t Washington Park, Detroit and Fairmount Are Their Destinations LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 18. Following the close of one of the most successful meetings in the history of Churchill Downs, horsemen who participated in the 19-day session and remained for the final days of the sport, were busy Sunday morning packing their traps and making preparations for shipment to other racing points. The exodus reached its height Sunday when vans and trailers were leaving, the Derby course grounds as well as Douglas Park every few minutes. The smaller stables used trailers and vans to get away, while the more important establishments shipped by rail. Despite many express carloads to get away last week, E. E. Minor, superintending the loading of cars, Sunday sent 13 carloads to Lincoln Fields, Washington Park, the Detroit Fair Grounds and Fairmount Park at Col-linsville, 111. Seven cars were consigned to Washington Park and Lincoln Fields and three each went to Detroit and Fairmount Park. Heading the T. D. Grimes shipment to Washington Park was the clever With Regards, which finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby. Making the trip with his more famous stablemate were Our Mat, Mabe Monday and Captain Zac. In the same car Sam Sechrest had three for Chet Lauck and a like number for Stuart Hamblen. The horses owned by the popular radio entertainer "Lum," are Lums Pride, Hillfilly and Felthorn, while Hamblens campaigners are Captain Fury, Little Darlin and Tawney Belle. R C Stable to Crete Another western stable to get away for Lincoln Fields was the strong R C Stable, under the direction of trainer P. Meredith. Included in the full car were Royal Crusader, Radio Joe, Cloak, Blue Chip, Radio Crusader, Red Crescent, Dick Macaw, Car-lottine Bliss II., Riot Call, River Captain and Royal Chief . The Mose Lowenstein-trained horses also went direct to Lincoln Fields and among them were Avachance, Haichow, Searcy, Rock Call, Drollon, Mistress Step, Marmac, Short Life, Wiseasyou, Chance Gray, Heel Call, Blondy Jane, Gold Flag and three others. Five more will be added to the stable, they having been sent to Lincoln Fields from the J. D. Weil farm at Lexington. William Jordan sent his outfit in one car, and their destination was Lincoln Fields. His charges are Spanish Fire, Pata-loped, Mamie E.-, Pidgy, Sugar Faye, Sidetrack, Latters Choice, My Diane and Sweetparie. Fourteen horses made up the stable of Allen T. Simmons, Akron, Ohio, sportsman, whose horses were loaded by trainer W. G. ! Douglass and sent to Lincoln Fields. In the lot were Akrontown, Blue Shot, Blue Swords, Count Traumer, Bordeaux Bull, Eternal Bull, General Jean, Rewarded, Wishing, Shortening, Zo Zo, Gallant Play and Big Brands Son. Head for Washington Park Trainer Ed Hefferon sent the O. F. Woodward horses direct to Washington Park and in the same car J. J. Sirl had five head. The Reno, Nev., sportsman, will be represented in the Chicago area by Black Heels, Flying Giant, Iverna, Captain Ruth, China Face, Lucelle Dee and Corporal Bud. Magic Mab, another member of the unit, will be sent from NarragansettT to join his stablemates at Washington Park. Sir L., Queenlike, Some Man, Silver Vain and Silver Glory were the Sirl charges included in the same car. The last car going to the Chicago area included the horses of J. R. Upton, Raymond White, Carroll Lang and Roy Slomer. Upton sent Havana Lad, Sweepida and Dutchill B., while White included Air Raider, Buechel and Hijou. Langs campaigners in the car were Alspur and Duck Stans, while Slomers unit was made up of Invoice, Sun By, Nicogold and Valley Boy. The strong Rosedale Stable, under the orders of trainer G. C. White, were loaded at Douglas Park and heading for the Motor City meeting were Panderma, Anxiety, Poet Laureate, Happy Choice, Mystery Marvel, Straw Stack, Masked Duke, Royal One, Hasty K Brown Mask, Lightsome, Charter Member, Enterprising, Exclamation and Liberty Hall. Dave Hum had a full car for his charges and among them were Aljack, Remote Control, Say Nomore, Dissension Sir, Mon Time, Loque and Baby Therese. The third Detroit-bound car carried the Tom Jolley racers as well as those of C. A. ONeil, Jr., and Dr. William Kenney, Sr. Jolley had the largest number of horses in the car and they included Wild i Betty, Mary Colleen, Air Beauty, Miah, Silver Dear, Burning Sands-, Mahseer and React. The ONeil representatives were Norsweep, Hi Winnie, Chorsie and Rose-mere Rose. Glen Kenney was in the car and he will be turned over to J. G. Goode on his arrival in the Motor City. It took two cars to take the J. R. Gregory establishment to Fairmount Park. Gregory will campaign the horses of J. W. March-bank, Judge J. E. Wooley of Fresno County, Calif., and Mrs. Gregory. The Marchbank horses to race at the Southern Illinois course are Gallant Laddie, Sagalie Tyee, Tenas Tyee, Jungle Dick, Kimberley Gold, Oradea Queen, War Jig, Faraway Island and Beatsthemall. Judge Wooley will have but one horse to sport his silks and it is Osunita. Mrs. Gregorys colorbearers in the cars to get away were Lostagal, a serious1 contender for the Kentucky Derby several years ago when he went wrong training for that prize, El Cabrillo, Strombus, Gal Ann, Pollenator, Edward A., Commendable, Torchy, Hogan, Taken, Chatted, The Count and Broadus. The other car getting away today for Fairmount Park was the St. Louis-owned Rivermont Ranch which was in charge of trainer C. A. Grande. Leaving the Douglas Park chute for the Collinsville track were Hot Iron, Riverkid, Rosy Brand, Riverlass, Zoic, Aunt Ellen, Dianapat, Within, Prince Gale and Jumping Jill. The stable will have eight additions next week when the unit racing at Beulah Park will be transferred to Fairmount Park. Frank P. Letellier, New Orleans horseman, who was to get away for Lincoln Fields today, decided to remain here until June 15 and ship direct to Arlington Park. He is passing up the Lincoln Fields meeting the first time in many years. i
