Lincoln Fields Racing Strip Has Been Fully Reconstructed CRETE, 111., May 18. Important among many Lincoln Fields improvements made since the previous meeting at the local course, is the new racing strip. Late last year, track superintendent Thomas Young directed complete reconstruction of the one mile and one-sixteenth main oval and the one mile chute. The track foundation and drainage system were done over and new sub-soil and top dressing spread over the entire course. The improved racing ground is expected to prove faster and at the same time easier, or softer footing for the thoroughbreds than they have had at the local course for several years. Young is working the Lincoln Fields course with a new type of harrow. Designed by Young, the new harrowdoes not drag the soil,-thus eliminating any chance for an uneven surface. The new equipment resembles a large spider, its long prongs measuring almost one foot in length.
