Summer Handicap Next Detroit Stake Week-End Program* Has Much Promise Large Field of Top Routers To Vie for 0,000 Prize-Two Other Features Carded DETROIT, Mich., June 19. — Outstanding sport has been scheduled for presentation at the Fair Grounds during the coming week and the next important stake attraction will be the 0,000 Summer Handicap, which is to be decided on Saturday. On the same week-end program, the ,500 Hamilton Handicap, six-furlong sprint for three-year-olds and the ,000 Mata Hari Handicap, a five-furlong dash for two-year-olds are down for decision. The Summer will bring together a band of three-year-olds and upward at one mile and a sixteenth and racing secretary-handicapper Charles F. Henry stated here today that he believes a clever field will accept weights for the test. Among those classed as probable starters, are Mrs. Earl H. Beezleys Grasshopper II., who won an impressive victory in the Blue Grass Handicap, A. F. Walls By Conscript and Bonnie Andrew. By Conscript won three of his four local engagements, accounting for the Parents Creek Handicap, Motor City Handicap and the Mackinac Handicap. Bonnie Andrew also visited the winners circle here capturing the Wolverine Handicap at the expense of a good band. , Others that might accept the issue in the Summer are Tall Trees Stables Ball Player, Kenneth Marleys Dogpatch, Morris Wex-lers Dispose, C. Turners Bon Jour, Lt. T. D. Buhls Sweep Swinger, Mrs. Ellsworth H. Augustus Trelawny and Mrs. H. P. Bonners improved Valdina Paul, victor in his last local appearance. Three-year-olds who may be under colors in the Summer, include J. Warfield Rodgers Dove Pie, victor in the 1943 renewal of the Col. Alger Memorial, W. W. Naylors Precipitous, Harry C. Richards Camptown, Devereaux and Far-rells Bold Captain. E. W. Cragins Magnesium, and Mrs. Earl H. Beezleys No Wrinkles. Six in Todays Best Offering The ,500 Benjamin Wight Purse, a six-furlong sprint for three-year-olds, is the headliner on the Monday card at the Motor City track. Six of the better performers from that age division are named to start, Bachelor Boy, Golden Man, Sweepnack, Wise Chance, Spy Snare and Brass King. Tuesday will witness the running of the ,000 Johnson Purse, one mile and a sixteenth event for four-year-olds and upward and the Palmer Handicap at six furlongs for three-year-olds and upward. On Wednesday the ,000 Smart Set Handicap of six furlongs for fillies and mares, three-year-olds and upward, is to be contested. The Doty Purse, one mile and a sixteenth for three-year-olds and upward, also is scheduled for running as is the Currys Corner Purse, five furlongs dash for two-year-olds. Thursday and Friday programs are equally as good, the ,000 Corpus Christi, the ,500 Fort Custer Handicap, the ,000 Kenton Handicap and the ,500 Bill Donnelly Handicap are to serve as the top offerings. The Corpus Christi and Fort Custer will be run Thursday, the former at six furlongs for four-year-olds and upward and the latter for three-year-olds and upward at one mile and a sixteenth. The Kenton is for four-year-olds and upward at six furlongs and the Donnelly will match three-year-olds at one mile and sixteenth.
