. New England Notes SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 22. H. E. Lewis, Rhode Island owner, shipped in Flag Orland and Grand Fortune. T. P. Morgan has added Charwoman and Hygros Queen to the string he has racing here in his name, shipping them from Jamaica. Charley Durando, a veteran rider, arrived from New York to free lance at the meeting. Al Pupino reported that the Pine Tree Farms Valdina Alpha was shipped in from that Framingham, Mass., establishment and has been placed back in training. Before his retirement to the farm, Valdina Alpha was a crack sprinter. Ty Meloche, veteran rider who has been doing the riding for Fred Preece, has come to an amiable parting-of the ways with the New England owner and will free lance from now on. Bill Himphy, an ex-rider now training a string of horses, arrived with three head, Captain Everett, Donna M. G. and Mack-aby. Former Jockey Jack Chalmers, recently discharged from the armed forces, will take Weston Adams Gay Annabelle and Gay Marine to Pascoag for campaigning at the Rhode Island half miler, which opens Saturday. There is a possibility that other trainers here will send some of their charges to Chalmers. j With the stable area packed, horsemen are still clamoring for stable room. Many horses are stabled at Rockingham Park, Narragansett Park, and at the Myopia Hunt Club, in Hamilton, Mass. T. C. Melroses handicap horse, Restless, is reported to be doing exceedingly well under treatment by the track veterinarian. Harold Wishman, of Baltimore, agent for the Wexler Stable, has received greetings from Uncle Sam and will return to Baltimore for induction into the Army. Lucien Lauren has taken over the conditioning of Foxy Prince, five-year-old gelding owned by J. A. Gauther of Montreal. David Cowan, of Buffalo N. Y., who owns a florist shop in that city, shipped in Balmy Spring and Betel. They are trained by Gordon Stark. Sid Bernstein brought Worthy Elf back to the races, the eight-year-old mare having been idle since 1942 when she made only two starts. T. C. Melrose, Cleveland, Ohio, hotel man, who has a string of horses racing here, left for a visit to Ohio and Kentucky. While in Kentucky he will look over some racing stock with the idea of increasing the size of the stable he is racing. Trainer J. T. Amodie, well satisfied with the victory his charge, Mrs. C. P. Amodies Dinner Party, scored in the fifth race on Monday, announced that the Cavalcade gelding will be given one more tune up race before he fills his engagement in the 0,000 Massachusetts Handicap here on the Fourth of July. Scholarship, shipped here to fill an engagement in an overnight race on Saturday, was returned to Aqueduct. Trainer George Alexandra shipped Gay Gunner and Daisy Lee to Wedgemere Farm, Framingham, Mass., owned by Weston Adams, his employer. i I
