A crowd of 21,987 was greeted by a fast track and the first day of clear weather in a week at the Fair Grounds today and this combination was satisfactory to Bomar Stables Lady Mayflower, who proved best of the band of a dozen juvenile fillies who met in the ,000 Lassies Handicap. At the end of the five furlongs the daughter of Rhodes Scholar was driving to earn a half-length margin over Green Acres Stock Farms Ginnys Pride while only a head away Henry Forrests favored Rembird was third. The winner was ridden by Nick Coule, was timed in 1:01 and paid 3.60. She had scored the first success of her career earlier at the meeting. Little Stings had the most early speed of the band racing before Rembird while the eventual winner was improving her position on the outside and Ginnys Pride was not far away. In the home lane Little Sting was unable to retain her advantage and Rembird, Ginnys Pride and the winner charged in close alignment with the Bomar filly taking the close decision on the outside as Ginnys Pride ousted Rem-! bird from the place award right at the wire. Many Lands, under the silks of Al Well-man, duplicated his winning performance in the Cadillac Handicap two weeks ago when he was an easy winner of the George Continued on Page Thirty
