Lipiec, Blacksmiths Settle Differences; Seeks License PATH GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 22. Stanley Lipiec, whose meteoric rise to fame as the countrys leading trainer in 1945 crashed when he ran afoul of the track blacksmiths, has settled his differences with that body and is on the comeback trail. The 31-year-old conditioner received a clean bill of health from Harry Lockwood, chairman of the division of the blacksmiths union here, and applied for a trainers license from the Michigan State Racing Commission.
