LADYS ORPHAN, forwardly placed close to the leaders for a half mile, came between horses entering the stretch and disposed of KATHY, then was hard ridden to hold ARIDISICAL safe. The latter started slowly, was in hand in the first quarter, responded to pressure while losing ground and was catching the winner at the end. SPEED UP was kept within striking distance of the pace and rallied mildly under stout pressure leaving the sixteenth pole. KATHY assumed , command in the first quarter, held on when TEN OAKS moved into the lead, then came again, only to falter in the closing strides. ZACATINE was a forward factor and had no mishap. Start good from stall gate. Won easily; second and third driving. LITTLE HOOPS, under restraint during the first quarter, moved around the leaders when ready and drew out to win with speed in reserve. SHOOT TO BOOT gradually improved position under steady urging and was best of the others. EASY BLEND broke alertly, was taken in hand when outrun in the first quarter, then responded to steady urging while improving in the late stages. GRAY VICTORY held on gamely to the final furlong, then weakened. ARTHUR J. was unable to remain with the pace under light urging. BURGOO LADY raced evenly. SEA VICTORY showed brief early speed. ATOMIC WAVE was rushed into command in the first quarter, saved ground while setting the pace, bore out badly entering the stretch, carried SHOCKOE out, then lasted under strong handling to outfinish the latter. The stewards claimed a foul and, after deliberation, placed ATOMIC WAVE second. SHOCKOE, in closest attendance of the leader, moved up under steady urging, was carried wide, then finished with good determination. SHOCKOE was placed first. HALOMER saved ground entering the stretch and finished willingly. LITTLE SPOOKY made a determined bid nearing the quarter post, then faltered. SILVER SWEEP raced evenly and had no mishap. SHINY PENNY broke alertly, was taken under restraint to allow JO AGNES to set the pace, moved around the leader midway on the.far turn, drew clear and was roused to draw off at the end. ELMO T. saved ground while remaining close to the leaders, slipped through on the inside to dispose of JO AGNES, but was unable to reach the winner. AIR PATROL was steadied along for a half, rallied mildly nearing the sixteenth post, then raced evenly. MOTHER broke alertly, was content remaining just back of the pace while saving ground on the inside, responded to stout pressure after drawing on even terms with HERES ME, forged to the front and had enough left to hold SUGAR PILL safe. The latter was not hustled in the first quarter, worked her way up on the extreme outside when ready, rallied nearing the furlong pole and finished with good energy. HERES ME was sent up on the inside to wrest command from FAIR CROSS nearing the quarter pole, then continued gamely under stout handling, but faltered in the final seventy yards. FAIR CROSS had good speed from the beginning and was under steady urging to maintain slight advantage, then weakened under a strong drive. FLEET WEST was unable to keep up after a half mile. DINNER PARTY was allowed to settle into best stride while under a tight hold for five furlongs, circled the leaders when set down, drew clear and continued to gain entering the stretch to win as his rider pleased. BILL HARDEY, taken back off the pace, was under a snug hold for seven furlongs, then responded to move up on the outside entering the stretch, but, although best of the others, was unable to threaten the winner.2 WINSOME LAD was forwardly placed on the outside and held on gamely under a drive. WEST FLEET hard held in forcing the pace and saving ground, was not punished when beaten. ADONIS made a bid on the far turn, then raced evenly. HAMMER-LOCK was hustled into command at the start, held sway for a half, then weakened. FLOAT ME was through after a quarter. INCOMING was never a factor. CHANCE PLAYER, taken back off the pace and under a tight hold to the-final quarter, moved up to wrest the lead from TOWNHOUSE and was in hand while holding CASH REWARD safe. The latter saved ground into the first turn, assumed command, was eased back, remained with the pace, then lacked racing room through the stretch. TOWNHOUSE, forwardly placed from the start, took command when SUNCLAD weakened, saved ground into the stretch, then faltered. SUN-CLAD showed good speed while setting the pace, then flattened out under intermittent pressure. QUEEN ISABELLA moved into contention when ready, then was listlessly ridden to the end. TO TO LIGHT passed tiring horses. FEARLESS was through early. BABOMAC went evenly. CO-LAWYER refused to respond to steady urging. LILLY showed nothing. ALLPULCH was under steadying restraint to the quarter post, rallied mildly when set down, then was bothered slightly when riding close with JELWELL TURNTABLE closed fast through the final quarter with a belated rush, but was unable to threaten the leaders, JELWELL was under a snug hold while saving ground in following close to the pace, then faltered in the final sixteenth.
