Chappell Hits Increased Racing Taxation AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 22. Dan Chappell of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association directorate, arrived from his Miami, Fla., home to witness his Lets Dance race in the Brooklyn Handicap. He will later go to Boston, where on June 28 at the annual meeting of the H. B. P. A., he will introduce a resolution, taking a firm stand on "off-track" wagering and against further increases in taxation on racing. The resolution will be strongly worded and suggest that states that adopt "off-track" betting be placed on the not-to-be-patronized list by horsemen. He further will suggest that racing men be called upon to pass up racing against men who patronize such meetings if "off-track" betting is adopted by any particular state.
