W. Shaw; bred by C. W. Johnson. WENT TO POST-4:31. OFF AT 4:32 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. SHAWS PRIDE, forwardly placed from the beginning, came willingly when hard ridden during the stretch run and, after disposing of GOLDEN MAN, won going away. GOLDEN MAN, away fast and never far back, assumed command after three-eighths, held a short lead when settled for the drive, but was unable to withstand the winner. CID PLAY came out for the stretch run and closed strongly. BIG BROTHER, between horses to the upper turn, was blocked when moving up in the stretch and could not get to the leaders. NICKEY W. faltered after racing well to the last furlong. COMPATRIOT was outrun. MISS TARTAN had a rough trip. ARTILLERIST, forced wide throughout, was never dangerous. BILL went to the front early, disposed of BILLY ROLFE after three-eighths, then continued gamely through the stretch to withstand GOOD SON. The latter, a keen factor throughout, came willingly when set down for the drive, but could not overtake the winner. WALTERS BOY, fractious at the post and away slowly, made up ground steadily after the start and closed strongly in a sharp effort. ADMIRALS AIDE began sluggishly, but finished fast. BILLY ROLFE failed to stay when set down for the drive. HAND TORCH tired. HEARTH MOUSE had brief speed. UP GRADE never was dangerous. Scratched— 220132 Sweet Comet, 110; 212044 Total Victory, 112. MILITARY SIR improved his position steadily to the stretch, assumed command when ready, then drew clear when ridden out. DRISCOLL, never far back, went to the front approaching the stretch, bore to the inside during the drive and was unable to withstand the winner. SUEDE was outrun to the final quarter and finished fast under punishment. SNOW KISS could not get to the leaders when roused for the drive. RADIO GUNNER raced wide at the first turn, moved up boldly entering the backstrefch, then tired. YOUNG BUDDY made the pace for five-eighths, then gave way. OR-TETRA was done early.
