Mityme Shows Preakness Form in Survivor Score Cedar Farm Colt Drives Home Nose Ahead of Loyal Legion PIMLJCO, Baltimore, Md., May 6.— Cedar Farms handsome chestnut colt, Mityme, joined the cast for Saturdays 00,000 Preakness when he turned in a game performance to capture the tenth running of the one mile and a sixteenth Survivor Stakes. In one of the closest finishes the race has provided in a number of years, Mityme reached the judges a scant nose before Walter M. Jeffords Loyal Legion, who was a similar distance clear of Mrs. E. DuPont Weirs odds-on favorite, Royal Governor, in the exciting blanket finish. , Mityme, shouldering 116 pounds under the allowances condition of the race, wrested the lead from Repand approaching the furlong pole and stuck to his guns gamely in a driving three -horse charge through the final 50 yards. Before the race, trainer Charles Shaw, Jr., of the Cedar Farm, announced that Mityme would start in Saturdays one mile and three-sixteenths classic provided the son of Menow — Generva M. turned in an acceptable effort today. There appeared to be little cause for Shaw to reverse his stand, for Mityme proved a dead-game competitor, completing the one mile and a sixteenth over the fast but dead track in the commendable time of 1:47%. In addition to qualifying Mityme for a starting berth in Saturdays rich Preakness, the Survivor also served to practically eliminate from the week-end feature at least three other three-year-olds who, until today, had been considered probable Preakness starters. This trio included Sylvester W. Labrot, Jr.s Repand, who faltered steadily to finish fourth after Mityme pegged him near the furlong-pole; Mrs. Samuel Pistorios Golden Bull, who finished seventh, and Greentree Stables Wide Wing, who never got out of a gallop in bringing up the rear in the nine -horse field. Tailspin, who raced as an entry with Wide Wing, finished sixth after showing early speed, remained the only possible Greentree Stable colorbearer in the Preakness.
