WENT TO POST— 2:15. OFF AT 2:151 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. BLACK KNIGHT, always a forward factor and under steadying restraint early, asssumed command from the outside in the early stretch and out-finished DARGLO. The latter was always well placed, lugged in while taking a slight lead between calls entering the stretch, then held on tenaciously when straightened up and was placed to pressure. UNHEARD set the pace from the beginning and was holding on nicely when hit by DARGLO entering the stretch. OVER GOLD was always prominent and failed to rally. BARE CUPBOARD raced wide while rallying and came too late. VALDINA BINA caught tired horses. RUNNING RIOT was taken up leaving the gate. WILD KNIGHT was through early. SLEEP WALKER, always prominently placed, saved ground while moving to the leader and outfinished SMAJOR. The latter set the pace from the start and held on gamely under strong urging. BLENLIN swerved badly in the stretch and recovered well. SPRING SONG, off alertly and timidly handled early, was rallying nicely when impeded by BLENLIN entering the stretch. MISS PLEAT closed full of run. BAD LIGHT could not keep up. HAND IN GLOVE lacked early speed and raced wide. SERENADE broke tardily. BABADORA had a rough trip. PICTURE PRINCE, under steadying restraint while racing in a contending position early, responded to urging to assume command shortly after clearing the final jump and drew out slightly near the finish. SIMILAR was forwardly placed from the start, gained the lead when ON THE CUFF fenced very badly at the eighth jump, then drew out to a clear lead thereafter, but was unable to withstand the winner. OSSABAW was unable to make up ground. SPURIOUS COUNT was never a factor. ON THE CUFF was setting a good pace when he fenced poorly and almost lost rider at the eighth jump, then was pulled up approaching the eleventh jump. Overweight— Spurious Count, 4 pounds. MAE CASE, under stout restraint while pressing the pace, assumed command entering the stretch and outfinished YESNOW in the stretch run. YESNOW moved to the leader boldly in the early stretch, but was not good enough. FENTY 0., much the best, was pinched back soon after the start, raced wide while rallying, then lugged in throughout the final test. VIVA TEDDY closed willingly while racing wide. GREY STEEL may improve. BALCURATE could not keep up. QUICK NEWS set the pace for a half mile and weakened. YANKEE FLIER trailed. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. MITYME, under steadying restraint while following the pace of REPAND, displaced that one turning for home and withstood an extended drive. LOYAL LEGION, always within striking distance of the leader, moved willingly when roused and, after bumping with ROYAL GOVERNOR in the early stretch, hung slightly in the final strides. ROYAL GOVERNOR, badly outrun early, raced extremely wide while making his move, charged to the leaders inside the sixteenth pole and hung REPAND. well rated while setting the pace, was still going easily on the final turn, but flattened out under pressure JOBSTOWN weakened after being prominent early. TAILSPIN raced forwardly placed and held on willingly GOLDEN BULL broke alertly, dropped back after appearing to jump a shadow just out of the gate, then failed to reach contention. ZAX assumed the lead soon after the start, gave way to SERVICE PILOT on the final turn, disposed of the latter and outfinished MARCH CHICK. The latter was always a forward factor, but could not wear down the winner. SERVICE PILOT moved through on the inside to take the lead in the vicinity of the quarter pole, then faltered. HE ROLLS closed with a belated rush after being far back. BRIGHT ARGOSY rallied mildly after being taken back early. AMERICAN WOLF weakened. JOUSTING MATCH was running nicely until SERVICE PILOT outran him to an opening on the inside leaving the backstretch, then dropped back steadily. Scratched— 222122 Lord Calvert, 106.
