The latter, on the outside and a prominent factor from the beginning, finished well under urging. SHIFTY MAE was sent through on the inside in the deeper footing and finished with good courage. PUFF OF SMOKE was a prominent factor all the way and, under pressure, held on well to finish in a dead-heat for the place with ROMANCER. The latter was eased to the outside for the stretch run and closed fast. FRIENDLY DON was eased to the outside for the stretch run and came again at the end. FRIO QUEST was sent through on the inside m. the deeper footing and tired. INSCRIBE quit badly. FLOTANTE began slowly and closed well. SOVIET began slowly. ALBREAK ran in spots. DARJEELING was under snug restraint for a quarter mile, where he moved fast, swerved at the final jump, but drew away to finish with speed in reserve. EL ORO REY raced close to the early pace under steady restraint and assumed command when ready, but bobbled at the final turn, then tired. DRIFT showed in front in the early stages under sufferance, but tired badly. DARTAGNAN closed with a rush on the inside at the end. The others were outrun. Scratched— 22208 Fourth Arm. 142. PICNIC LUNCH was well up from the start, but was bothered by GREY FLIGHT entering the final quarter, was eased back, then sent up on the inside and finished with a rush. A claim of foul was lodged against the winner for alleged interference, but it was overruled. GREY FLIGHT was hustled along from the start, but swerved entering the final quarter and tired.
