Peter Gifford, English-Born Lad, Makes Saddle Bow Today CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 6. — After four years of preparation, Peter Gifford, a native of London, England, may get the first chance to show his saddle skill in an actual race here tomorrow. Born in 1926 and weighing 104 pounds, Gifford is tentatively slated to pilot Mibob and Hot Toddy named for the second and third events on the mid-week program. Now with Harry Trotsek, former jockey who is training one of the larger establishments here, Gifford had most of his training under George P. Odom, eastern trainer and also a former jockey.
