j * Bubbling Easy After Another Win In Sportsmans Speed Handicap | j . ] | . , Takes Up 1 79 Pol/nos While t Meeting Double Call and Mrs. Volenti in Feature SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 6. — The Speed Handicap, five-furlong dash for a prize of ,000, tops the mid-week program at Sportsmans Park and in it nine shifty sprinters have been named. While several of the nominees were not entered for the race the contenders include both the topweighted Bubbling Easy, from the stable of D. C. Wilhelm, and the lightweight of the nominees C. and G. Mavros Day. Bubbling Easy has been assigned 119 pounds for the Speed, an impost that appears justified following the sparkling victory of the Ted Easy filly in the Cicero Handicap a week ago. I nthat six and a half furlongs venture Bubbling Easy just lasted to earn a neck verdict over Jesting Fox but had a clear advantage a furlong from the finish line and the lesser distance of the Speed should enhance her chance. Closest to Bubbling Easy in the matter of weights are Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Lancasters Double Call and Mrs. C. Valentis Mrs. Valenti, each with 112 pounds. This pair met in a five-furlong allowance affair earlier in the meeting and Mrs. Valenti was a handy winner over Double Call in that venture. For the Speed, however, Mrs. Valenti will pick up two pounds while Double Call drops five pounds. Willis E. Sprint Winner at Oaklawn Under 111 pounds is Ben Fogelsons Willis E. who was third to Mrs. Valenti and Double Call in that same engagement. The son of Energy was a front-running winner of two sprint races at Oaklawn Park and could be troublesome by a peak performance. Ben Johnson has named Doras Son for the Speed and under 110 pounds the invader from Phoenix rates serious consideration. He turned in a smashing victory at five and a half furlongs at the Western oval, covering the distance in 1:05 to attest his fleetness. Final Glory will represent L. and W. Slavin The Case Ace gelding flashed keen early speed in both his local appearances and in his latest outing he ran with the pace right into the stretch of a seven-furlong test while carrying a 0,000 claiming tag. W. T. Beezleys Jesting Fox earned consideration by his two good local races in both of which he was second. The first of these was his appearance in the Cicero Handicap in which he forced Bubbling Easy to the limit to earn a neck verdict over six and a half furlongs. The Speed field is completed by Jim Emerys Purple Knight filly Static, second last trip while racing under a ,000 claiming tag, and the lightweight Day whose 103 pound impost appears to be his best recommendation.
