Apprentice C. L. Peabody In First Saddle Victory CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 6. — Apprentice Clair Lee Peabody experienced his initial saddle victory astride Mikel and Elrods Don Devito in the second race here Monday. The 19-year-old rider, who is under contract to trainer J. D. Mikel, began his riding career at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans last winter, riding four horses there, and resumed his activities here. Mikel is very confident the 105-pound Galesburg, 111., rider will make good and is giving him every opportunity with mounts from his large stable.
