New Jersey Notes MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 26. Several riders accepted their first mounts of the meeting Friday. Those seeing action were Robert Fair, Johnny Sacco and F. Martinez. The latter was something of a senation in Cuba, while Sacco is under contract to his brother, W. J. Sacco of West Long Branch, N. J., who has a string of thoroughbreds at the Seaside track. . Apprentice Jack Ragabuto accepted the first mount of his career in Fridays fourth race when he was astride Hasty Mabel. The boy is under contract to C. A. Grande. Trainer Merritt Buxton, vice-president of the New Jersey Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association, will attend a business meeting and the Counting of ballots in the recent national election next Sunday. The meeting is to be held at the Hotel New Yorker in New York City. Amory L. Haskell, president of the Monmouth Park Jockey Club, returned to his desk following his arrival from Philadelphia, where he served as a delegate at the recently concluded Republic national convention. Haskell was a delegate from New Jersey. Trainer Oleg T. Dubassoff of the Lazy F Ranch came up from Delaware Park Saturday to watch Nathaniel in action in the Oceanport Handicap.. The stable will be represented by the entry lists on Monday, also, after which time Dubassoff will return to Delaware. Jay D. Acres Black Swan, a late scratch from todays seventh race, has been placed on the veterinarians list and will not be permitted to start for 10 days. Racing secretary John Turner, Jr., will release his weights for next Saturdays 0,000 Long Branch Handicap on Monday. A total of 50 horses are eligible for the week-end stake, one of the first summer preps for the July 24 renewal of the 5,000 Monmouth Handicap at the seaside track. Trainer Lucien Laurin has taken over three horses to condition for Gordon C. Gober, New Jersey breeder and owner. Laurin also handles an extensive string for J. U..Gratton and others.
