FRONT ROW wasquick: to begin, was hustled into command, responded when roused in the stretch run, shook off PENSON and was under, mild restraint at the end. PENSON was away sluggishly, was rushed up fast on the outside, lost ground on the stretch turn and tired in the final sixteenth from early effort. TED M. was outrun early, came to the outside of the leaders and finished with a rush. LORD GREVILLE was well up in the early stages and faltered steadily in the stretch run. FENNELLY had no mishap. EQUINOX was under restraint in the running, but began to improve his position after the first mile by going to the outside, came between the leaders for the final furlong and was drawing away at the end. -THE HAILE was kept close up and under restraint for the early running, moved into command entering the final half, but could not stave off the rush of the winner. MR. DODO was close up but on the outside and finished well at the end. ON MARCH was sent into command after the start, set the pace under sufferance, then quit in the stretch run. HOMOGENIZE was steadied along in the running, but moved up fast going to the seventh fence, saved ground in the late stages, but was kept under pressure to the end. CROWS BILL was under restraint in the early running, improved his position when roused, came between the leaders and finished well. FAIR CRYSTAL showed early speed, but bore out on the turns, shook off determined opposition from MAGNETIC STAR and tired in the late stages. MAGNETIC STAR lost ground at several of his fences, but showed speed on the flat and was not persevered with when thoroughly beaten. FOOLISH DEVIL had early speed, but tired badly. MERRY OLD SOUL forced the pace from the start, shook off FIRST CITIZEN rounding the stretch turn and held on well. POTOWOMUT dropped back after the start, but closed fast through the late stages. BE READY, on the inside in the late stages, could not menace the leaders: HABERDASHER finished well. ALONARY began jlowly. AIR FORCE II. had no mishap. THREE RINGS was sent into command ! after the start, was steadied along on the inside, drifted out in the stretch run, but responded to pressure to shake off opposition and was in hand in the final few yards. A claim of foul was lodged against the winner for bearing over and impeding MISS REQUEST, which was not allowed. MISS REQUEST, on the outside and a prominent factor all the way, dropped back rounding the far turn, but, under pressure, came again on the outside through the stretch run. SAFE ARRIVAL was under restraint in the early running, responded when roused, then made up some ground in the late stages. WHIRLING FOX stumbled at the start, recovered quickly and raced between the leaders to the far turn, but flattened out in the stretch and swerved to the inside.
