SLICKS GIRL, alertly handled, assumed command at once, saved ground while engaging GUS G. to the final furlong and lasted to withstand SLY TIGRESS. The latter, forced to take up approaching the upper turn, made up ground steadily when clear and, sent to the inside for the drive, lacked racing room near the finish and could not overtake the winner. CORONA CORONA, forwardly placed from the beginning, held on determinedly in a good effort. GUS G. raced With SLICKS GIRL to the last furlong, then faltered. CHICALMO raced evenly-to the stretch and finished strongly. OURBERRA could not threaten the leaders. STATIC CHASER had early speed. FIFTEENTH was . Outrun. SCOTLAND YARD began slowly. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. SOME BID, a sharp factor from the start, engaged WHITEFORD TET after three-sixteenths, came fast to take command nearing the finish and lasted to withstand GAMS. The latter raced evenly to the stretch, responded to strong handling during the drive, but could not reach the winner. BE BRIEF, forwardly placed soon after the start, was forced to take tip leaving the backstretch, came again when clear and, sent to the outside for the drive, closed fast in a good effort REWARDER lacked early speed, but finished strongly under punishment. HERES ME saved ground throughout, but could not threaten the leaders. WHITEFORD TET went to the front at once, made the pace until nearing the finish, then faltered. BROWN DAME failed to stay after showing early speed. ISOLATIONIST was never prominent. SGT. ABE could not keep up. PATRIMONY was far back throughout. BIG CASINO was done early. MEL JIASH moved up fast on the outside after the beginning, came out slightly entering the stretch and, responding readily to brisk urging, finished fast in a sharp effort. WHIRL SOME, outrun to the stretch, came to the inside for the drive and closed determinedly under punishment, but could not overtake the leaders. PEP WELL saved ground while racing wltfin striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, came out for the drive and reached the lead between calls, but was unable to withstand the winner, although !ajlly" best of thr others. BELIN assumed command before going a quarter, made the pace until near the finish, then weakened. BOBS PAL gave a good effort and had ne mishap. PODNER was outrun. WILD DRIFT began sluggishly. SAINT NICHOLAS was never dangerous. ANTHRACITE was done after going a half. GOLD EAGLE had early speed, but failed to stay. MISS SAL K. could not keep up. REPOSITION was far back throughout. FERVENT, away alertly, was taken in hand after the start, was steadied while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, came between DELEGATE and MIGHTY STORY for the drive and, after taking command, finished gamely under punishment to hold the advantage. MIGHTY STORY began fast, raced forwardly .placed to the stretch, drifted out at the final turn, then closed strongly when straightened for the drive, but could not overtake the winner and just missed. LOUJAC, in hand to the upper turn, made up ground steadily thereafter and finished determinedly, giving a sharp effort. DELEGATE, never far back, reached the lead between calls entering the stretch, but faltered during the final furlong. COLOSAL saved ground throughout, but lacked early speed and could not get to the leaders when set down in the stretch. STAR REWARD raced prominently for three-quarters, then weakened. ETERNAL REWARD was never a serious factor and had no mishap. FAULTLESS, away sluggishly, was bothered when caught between horses at the stretch turn and could not Improve his position when clear.
