No Decision Made on Starting Status of Citation in Skokie Coal town Expected to Go In Arlingtons Thursday Race if Champion Declines ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 26. General manager Ben A. Jones and his son, Jimmy, are keeping Prairie State turfites guessing in regard to Citations first start of the season over the local racing strip. The brilliant three-year-old, whose every motion is watched with great interest throughout the country, was an eligible for todays Equipoise Mile, but after careful study of the weights and other factors, it was decided to keep the "horse of the hour" in the barn. Come next Thursday the Joneses will be faced with another decision for Citation has been made eligible for the 0,000 Skokie Handicap, a dash of six furlongs slated exclusively for three-year-olds. One of the reasons Citation was declared out of the Equipoise Mile was that he would have had to face older horses, which, it would seem, makes the Skokie more appealing. However, he must carry 128 pounds if he starts and the weights scale down to 103 pounds, which means hell have his work cut out. Coal town Assigned 124 If Citation again passes, Calumet undoubtedly will send its speedy Coaltown for the Skokie. The colt is rigged with 124 pounds, while other possible starters are William Veenemans Phar Mon, Dixianas Shy Guy, W. A. Mikels Hypostyle, Bomar Stables Piet, Joseph A. Goodwins Papa Redbird, Mrs. Emil Denemarks Enforcer and Mrs. Moody Jolleys Picnic Lunch. In all there will be a trio of stakes offered during the coming week. On Wednesday the 0,000 Primer Stakes will be featured and this event once again will bring out most of the star juveniles in this area. Frederick W. Hooper probably will start Ocean Drive, the colt who was backed strongly In the Hyde Park on opening day, but who tired slightly through the stretch after setting the pace. He probably will be a great deal tighter for Wednesdays affray than he was in the Hyde Park. Mrs. Emil Denemarks Hyde Park winner, Provocative, was not eligible for the Primer. Final-feature of the week "will find a corking field of fillies and mares competing in the six furlongs Modesty Stakes, endowed with a 5,000 added purse. It will be in this dash that Calumets Bewitch will attempt to make amends for her disap- CARL GRAHAM Part owner of the three-year-old colt, Fancy Flyer, who took down top honors in the Fox Covert Purse at Detroit. pointing race in the Princess Doreen.
