Challe Anne to Face Starter Today Lincoln Handicap Winner in Sprint Flanders Three-Year-Old Engages Seven Fillies and Ma res in Featured Genoa ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 26. Fred L. Flanders, Muskegon, Mich., owner and breeder, made what seems an obvious mistake in failing to name his hard-running filly, Challe Anne, for the important early stakes events of the current meeting. But he has the trim daughter of Challedon Victorious Ann in fine condition and finds it necessary -to keep her in action pending engagements in later events. So Monday, Challe Anne is listed to compete against a first rate field of fillies and mares in the Genoa Purse, a three-quarter mile dash endowed with a purse of ,000. Scheduled to match strides with Challe Anne are seven ladies, including F. Haynes Lucky M., Calumet Farms Whirl Some, J. M. Hutchins Proud Ruler, Hal Price Headleys Bogle, W. E. Caskeys Sweet Woman, Mrs. Ada L. Rices Demure and the Happy Stables Happy Issue. Challe Anne, a jet black three-year-old, impressed Prairie State patrons last Saturday when she showed her heels to male competition in the 5,000 Lincoln Handicap. In the mile and one-eighth stake she assumed command shortly after the start, set a bristling pace, then held on as if she were a filly much out of the ordinary to beat such stars as Eternal Reward, Star Reward, Frere Jacques, Jack S. L. and Bodens Pal. Winner of Kentucky Oaks It was her initial start of the Illinois season but she had been quite active in Kentucky and in the East. At Churchill Downs she scored smartly in the Kentucky Oaks. She failed to generate her best speed in the Pimlico Oaks, but came through with a striking effort to finish third in the Coaching Club American Oaks at Belmont Park. In view of the fact that her late races have been decided over longer distances, the six furlongs of Mondays feature seems to be the main obstacle. Trainer W. U. Ridenour, however, believes he has her sharp enough to handle her foes. Calumet Farm, which up to this morning has drawn a total blank from the winners circle at the meeting, will be well represented by Whirl Some, a gray filly who was also listed on todays program. Last year she was the outstanding route-running filly in the Calumet barn, although she was forced to the background by her sprinting stablemate, Bewitch. Whirl Some won the rich Sellma Stakes at Laurel and later captured the Marguerite Stakes at Pimlico, both at a mile and one-sixteenth. She has been made eligible, for next Saturdays Modesty Stakes and is reported to be ready to race. Bogle, who will have the promising apprentice, Eldon Nelson, in the irons, will command considerable respect in the Genoa. The five-year-old mare has been one of the most dependable thoroughbreds in the barn this year. In one of her latest races at Garden State Park, she indicated that she has all of her speed by scoring by four lengths. Her successful eastern campaign found her beating some of the top sprinters. Happy Issue, another who is being pointed for the Modesty, showed a lively performance here Thursday. She was a fast-closing -fourth to Iriseh, Gala Revue and Pelure, and is expected to improve, for it was her first start since she competed at Mexico City.
