DUSTY LEGS was not rushed when slow to settle into stride, circled the leaders while challenging, gained the lead in the late stretch and withstood the drive of FLITABOUT. The latter could not keep up early, was slow to respond and was wearing down the top one after being able to move between horses in the stretch run. SUN ELSIE saved ground while setting the pace, held on gamely, but was not good enough. Her rider lost his stirrups right at the end, but apparently this had no effect on the outcome. BELLE HELOISE was rated just off the leader, moved to the front briefly in the early stretch, then weakened slightly. DISCORD was through early. Overweight Flitabout, 3 pounds; Sun Elsie, 2. BOVARD was allowed to settle in stride, rallied willingly under pressure when was unable to get within striking distance of the leader after lugging in near the furlong pole. TASK saved ground, but lacked a menacing rally. CERTIFIED raced prominently, but appeared beaten when forced to take up slightly -when BOVARD crowded him.
