Saggy Made Eligible to Four Added Money Races at Atlantic City Meet ATLANTIC CITY, N. J., June 26. Saggy, the only performer to finish in front of Citation in 1948 competition, was the first "name" horse to be made eligible for the stake events which will feature the 42 -day summer session at the seashore course, a period opening Monday, August 9, and terminating Saturday, September 25. Mrs. Helen Sagners colt has been entered in four of the 10 outstanding numbers. These are 0,000 handicaps, the Inaugural and Pageant, at six furlongs, and the Boardwalk and Absecon, at a mile and an eighth. Last named is the only one of the quartet limited to three-year-olds. . Early nominations to the stake headliners, which close on Thursday, July 1, now are flowing steadily into the offices of the association, and it appears that all 10 will be well patronized. A dozen and a half Jersey-bred juveniles, five of em from the establishment of Mrs. W. W. Vaughan, were early nominees for the ,500 Homebred Stakes, a six-furlong test set for Wednesday, September 22. To date this has been the best patronized of the meetings 10 major numbers and, when the .final tally is made following Thursdays closing, it may continue to top all others.
