4 1 Touch Controls Stretch Run Brings Garden State Victory Wears Down Thwarted and Flying Weather to Capture Haddonfield by One Length GARDEN STATE PARK. Camden, N. J., May 11. — Touch Control, racint. for E. Barry Ryan of Paoli, Pa., flashed through the stretch run this afternoon to win the six furlongs of the Haddonfield Purse, the best offering of the day. The son of Okapi and Sunmonia was ridden by Mike Basile and at the finish had a short length over Thwarted, racing for the Texan, T. P. Morgan. Two lengths back imthicd place was Flying Weather, owned by D. K. Kerr, Jr. - Trails in Early Running Nine started in the speed test for four-year-olds and over. The winner was making his seasons debut. He won his last start at Bowie in the latter part of December last fall on a muddy strip. Today he was accorded but meager support in the pre-race calculations with Thwarted the most in demand. However, this fellow was not a sound public choice judging from the fashion in which his price dropped, as support from certain quarters was extended. Thwarted had no mishaps in the running, for he was close to the pace throughout, assumed command in the final sixteenth, but proved incapable of staving off the rush of the winner. Touch Control sped the distance in 1:13. a commendable effort over the "off" strip. The band left the starting stalls in good alignment and in the early running there was little to choose between Flying Weather, Superb Donna, Thwarted. Andy Handy was back of this lot on the inside while Touch Control and Daralet were bringing up the rear. At the turn, the early pace began to take its toll and Flying Weather and Thwarted drew clear. Andy Handy made an effort to drive through along the inner rail but found that avenue blocked and he was then steadied along to await another opportunity. At the final stretch turn, Thwarted and Flying Weather continued to dominate the running and entering the final sixteenth the Texas-owned racer moved into command. Then came Little Harp with a bid on the extreme outside, along with Touch Control. The latter flew through the late stages to wear down the leaders. Flying Weather outfinished Andy Handy which eventually found clear oassage along the rail when it was too late.
