Illinois Notes SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 11. Horace Wade, who serves as racing secretary and handicapper for the National Jockey Club, departs on Friday evening for Monmouth Park, where he is director of publicity at the New Jersey track. Jack Riggs, a member of Wades Monmouth Park staff, will accompany him on the journey. R. A .Dealy has been appointed by William A. Mikel to train five horses the latter is sending next week to Ak-Sar-Ben. The Carlock, 111., owner will be represented at the Omaha, Neb., track by Topnotch, Hydra, Hypothesis, Bob Servant and Plaid-loch. Jockey Freddie A. Smith arrived from Louisville, Ky., today but does not plan to swing into action until hte Lincoln Fields-at-Washington Park meeting. Smith will remain here a few days and return to Churchill Downs. Starter Roy Dickerson today announced that the entry of J. Kress Golden Cross will not be accepted for the balance of this meeting. The eight-year-olds son of Balla-dier refused to break with his field when the start came in the third race here yesterday. Hard War arrived here yesterday from Oaklawn Park and was added to the string that John F. Beck is conditioning for D. B. Whieehouse. Mrs. C. J. Martin, Sr., purchased Easy Pris from Chester Adams at private terms today. The four-year-old daughter of Ted Easy will be conditioned by the new owners husband, who resumes training after being released from Berwyn Hospital yesterday. Frederic C. Crafton, a patrol judge at this half-mile oval, leaves on the week-end for his home in Collinsville, HI. He will return to this point in June and join the official staff which will serve during the Arlington Park session, slated to open on June 20. Trainer Averill House is sending four horses owned in the combined interests of Campbell and Dwyer to Ak-Sar-Ben when this meeting ends on Saturday. Xmary, Waterman Lad, Armed Man and Porters Broom will make up the shipment going to the Omaha, Neb., track. H. June Van Gundy, secretary of the Illinois Harness Racing Commission, came in from his home in DuQuoin, 111., and has been attending the races here. Van Gundy has been viewing the sport in company with Pete Langley, general manager of the Maywood trotting track.
