Ky., May 11. — Meadowbrook Farms Gus G., consistent four-year-old gelded progeny of Chance Line — Clenola Cloud, stepped to a well-earned victory over four other intermediate claiming performers in the mile and one-sixteenth fourth race. Cleverly rated by jockey Arthur Craig, Gus G. carried his top impost of 114 pounds in superb fashion and, as the wire was reached in the creditable time of 1:48 was three and one-half lengths before Mrs. Kitty Niles Boat Man, second by a half-length in advance of R. Second choice in the mutuel wagering, the winner returned .00, .00 arid .20 across the board. Big Ditch was hustled to the front immediately following the break closely followed by Gus G. and Bellbrook. As. the group swung into the far turn the eventual victor was sent to the froijt with a rush and under steadying rating held a two lengths : I ► advantage entering the stretch. Bellbrook replaced the weary Big Ditch as Knights Hill, racing in the middle of the track, moved up to make a bold, but futile challenge. Responding to mild urging, Gus G. continued to draw clear of his opposition and had enough left at the finish to easily repel the belated challenge made by the rapidly closing Boat Man who had saved ground throughout. Spring-like conditions returned to the Blue Grass this afternoon following several days of rather inclement conditions which were greatly instrumental in the slight decrease shown in the attendance. The sun shone brightly and warmly throughout the afternoon adding considerably to the large mid-week crowd in attendance. The track dried out rapidly following yesterdays light showers and wab termed good throughout the program. B. Lisners heavily-favored Victor Nance and apprentice Lois C. Cook, combined to account for the first race in a driving finish over Mrs. B. Cohens Toleca. Sun Gal-lahad. from the A. R.
