The latter was never far back, raced on the outside throughout, moved up boldly on entering the stretch, but hung under a sustained drive. CROONER also raced a trifle wide while maintaining a contending position, but lacked a closing rally. HANKIE made the pace under good rating, saved ground much of the way, but failed to rally when challenged in the last eighth. PITFALL was never a serious factor. PENTIN. slow to begin, moved up boldly on the outside rounding the turn, came to the inside when set down for the drive and made a determined bid in the late stages. ELASTIC, between horses early, was shuffled back after three-eighths, found racing room between horses again on the stretch tum and made up some ground. COUNT JL moved up boldly on the outside rounding the stretch turn, but flattened out when put to pressure.
