Woodbine Park Opens Spring Meeting Today Kings Plate Trial Offered in Two Divisions, With 13 in Each WOODBINE PARK, Toronto, Ont., May 20. — The first change in the local racing scene comes tomorrow, when Woodbine Park, Canadas most palatial horse park and the only race course in all the dominion boasting of a totalisator, inaugurates its annual seven-day spring meeting. A five-day session under the auspices of the Greenwood Racing Club follows the Ontario Jockey Club session. Taking on added beauty and mellowness with the years and given a little extra care this spring by Walter Richey, who stepped out of the starters box last autumn to take over as track superintendent, it is doubtful if the historic East End enclosure ever looked as beautiful as it doea today. As at other Ontario Jockey Club spring sessions, the impending meeting will be highlighted by the Kings Plate, Canadas most coveted turf prize. This year will mark the ninetieth running of the gallop of the Guineas, and indications point to a most interesting renewal. It was again necessary to split the plate trial and 13 runners have been named to contest each division. The draw proved quite interesting and the result of each affair should give fans some indication of what to expect on May 28 when the three-year-olds go for the important money.
