PEACE AND FOOD, slow to settle into his best stride, rallied from the inside under strong handling in the last quarter and wore down SCOTCH JEWEL in the last sixteenth. The latter broke alertly, raced true, responded readily to pressure, took command nearing the last eighth, but could not last. CEARA improved his position steadily while racing between horses and, after closing a big gap, hung in the final eighth. SILVOLO had good speed from the beginning, raced on the outside throughout, but had nothing left when the real test came. DREAM AGAIN raced with the top flight from the start, but lacked a closing rally and came back with a slipped saddle. COUNTY JUDGE was never far back, but was unable to improve his position. McGILL had no mishap. MR. WILLIE could not keep up. BUNKER broke slowly. ABBE BOY gave a dull performance. WOODSIDE broke very slowly. CANTRUN was never a factor. ZANELLA had good early speed, saved ground much of the way, was headed rounding the turn, but responded readily to increased pressure through the stretch to take command again near the end. BROWN CHIEF wrested command from between horses after a quarter, held his advantage while under pressure and just failed to last. PINEY had speed while racing on the outside, but, when set down for the drive, lacked a closing rally. HARD WORK was well placed early, but gave way steadily after three-eighths. ORIENT had no mishap in an even effort. VINCETTE made up some ground after a slow beginning. LOCK AND KEY had good speed from the start, jumped poorly on a slippery course, lost command after the twelfth jump, but regained his advantage while racing true and gradually drew out. POLICHINELA II., hard held for the first nine jumps, had trouble on the jumps, but responded to urging to take command after the eleventh jump, but could not last. COBH was always far back, but was able to complete the course. OBASH, bothered in the early running by KINGSFIELD, recovered after nine jumps to move up boldly approaching the last jump, then fell. HOT, a forward factor from the beginning, made a bad jump at the seventh obstacle and fell. KINGSFIELD lost his rider at the eighth jump, but the boy remounted and was again thrown at the eleventh jump. FALL GUY made a bad jump at the fifth jump and lost his rider. The latter pressed the pace in hand, raced on the outside much of the way and, under clever handling in the late stages, was getting to the top one. NO BULL was well placed from the start, but lacked a closing rally. JHANSI improved his position steadily while racing between horses, but was not good enough. PIE LADY was never a serious threat. SIS BRIER made up ground fast in the late stages. JONO was always outrun. FLOWER BED, steadied along in the first quarter, rallied from the outside rounding the turn, moved up strongly under increased pressure in the stretch and, while drifting in during the last sixteenth, was best. BLUE ROW made the pace under clever rating, saved ground much of the v/ay and, under a very strong ride, just failed to last. GAY MOOD followed in close attendance to the leaders for the first three-eighths, moved up strongly approaching the last quarter, then flattened out under pressure. TASSEL broke well, dropped back while saving ground and made a mild rally to finish on even terms with SHOW TIME. The latter broke slowly "and made up some ground in the last quarter.
