Won ridden out; second and third driving UNITED NATION worked way forward steadily to the stretch, disposed of DOGS UP during the drive and drew clear when ridden out. DOGS UP, a sharp factor from the beginning, was much used racing POLKA into defeat and held a short lead when settled in the stretch, but could not hold the winner. GAY MELODY could not better her position when set down in the drive. AUNT DORA was never dangerous. FAMOUS SHAKE failed to stay after showing early speel POLKA gave way after racing well to the stretch. SCARLET WING began poorly and lost all chance. BOSWELL LADY could not keep up. MINTLOCK went to the front early held a clear lead entering the stretch and lasted to withstand SONS TWINKLE. The latter raced well to the stretch and, finishing determinedly, was getting to the winner at the finish. POMPAGLE, outrun to the stretch, closed gamely, but could not reach the leaders. GEM 0* MIAMI raced prominently to the final furlong, then weakened. MOR-LADY was never dangerous. POTSEY had brief speed, but failed to stay on the muddy track. Scratched— 74593 Erinsville, 114. GLIDER PILOT raced wide during the last three-eighths. HIGH EGO engaged WOOLLARDS PET to the last eighth, then gave way. RENO UPTART was never a serious factor. LEA FLAG was sent to the front soon after the start, held a clear lead entering the stretch, then drifted out, but lasted to hold SWEET REWARD. The latter, far back to the final quarter, saved ground during the drive and finished strongly under punishment WATERCLOCK, away alertly, raced prominently to the stretch, then weakened, but dead-heated with DOVER ROAD for third. DOVER ROAD was outrun to the stretch, made a good bid when set down in the drive then faltered, but finished on equal terms with WATERCLOCK. CARPET SWEEP, in hand while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, was sent to the middle of the track at the final turn and, responding to mild urging, wore down MARKSMAN and drew away. MARKSMAN assumed command approaching the . stretch, held a short lead when settled for the drive, but was unable to withstand the winner although easily best of the others. AGRARIAN SON assumed the early lead, made the pace for five-eighths of a mile, then weakened. ADMIRAL BILL began sluggishly. BENADDI was through early. FLOWING OIL had brief speed.
