LETS RUN, away alertly and never far back, was forced wide entering the stretch and, responding readily when ridden out, wore down the leaders to win going away. SKY BLONDE, much used engaging LEADING MAN to the stretch, reached the lead when settled for the drive but was unable to withstand the winner. MIROSIE, forwardly placed early, stumbled nearing the stretch, came again when on stride, but could not reach the leaders. SCENE did not like the slow track and failed to respond when set down in the drive. GINKAK was outrun. LEADING MAN engaged SKY BLONDE to the stretch while making the pace but had nothing left for the drive. JIMMIE went to the front at once, established a clear lead before reaching the stretch and, responding readily when shaken up, easily held LUNCH DATE safe. The latter, a keen factor from the beginning, closed determinedly, but could not menace the winner, _ although easily best of the others. MISS TEXAS raced evenly and had no mishap. LOW TENSION, never far back, responded readily when hard ridden through the stretch and, after disposing of CHARLES CITY, held VICTORY BLUE safe. The latter, away slowly, made up ground steadily but could not reach the winner when set down in the drive. CHARLES CITY reached the lead when settled down for the drive but faltered during the final furlong. SPRING THAW went to the front at once, made the pace until inside the stretch, then drifted out while tiring. SALIGNAC was outrun. DANL BOONE began alertly but failed to stay. Kidd; bred by George Clarke. WENT TO POST-3:58. OFF AT 3:58* EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate for all but WALTERS BOY. Won driving; second and third the same. WALTERS BOY, fractious at the post, swerved to the inside after the start, made up ground steadily when straightened up and, responding well when hard ridden through the stretch, wore down the leaders to win going away. SOMA LAD gradually improved his position to the stretch, bore to the inside during the drive despite his riders effort to keep him straight and, after impeding MISS OBEHAN, closed willingly, but was unable to withstand the winner. SOMA LAD was disqualified for fouling MISS OBEHAN and placed third. MISS OBEHAN, a keen factor from the beginning, reached the lead between calls nearing the stretch, was forced to take up at the sixteenth pole when impeded by SOMA LAD and failed to recover. THE BAGEL made the pace to the stretch, then gave way. MAMALOI was done early. Scratched— 74688 My Empire, 106. Walters Boy claimed by Jerry" McCarthy Stable. FIFTH RACE 5-8 MILE. The latter, a keen factor from the start, saved ground throughout and, closing stoutly, was unable to overtake the winner. BENNINGTON raced evenly to the stretch, was forced wide by the winner on the final turn and could not improve his position when set down in the drive. DIXIE FLYER was outrun. COVEY RIDGE began sluggishly. PEAZY was done early. ROLL CLEAN could not keep up after beginning alertly. Overweight— Covey Ridge, 1 pound. SIXTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. PAPA REDBIRD went to the front early, established a clear lead before reaching the stretch, then retained his advantage over MISS MOMMY while under a steady hand ride and worked out to the mile in 1:41%. MISS MOMMY worked her way forward steadily, responded well when set down in the drive, but was unable to seriously threaten the winner, although much the best of the others. PLUMPER moved up fast after the start, held on well throughout and dead-heated with CHILDERIC for third. CHILDf RIC was outrun to the stretch, but closed determinedly enough to finish on equal terms with PLUMPER. TURBINE began alertly, but could not keep up and worked to the mile in 1:4375. ANALII, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the extreme outside for the drive and, responding readily when shaken up, wore down the leaders and drew clear. DOC STEARN went to the front early, made the pace until well inside the stretch, then faltered. GOOD HEAVENS finished strongly on the outside, but could not menace the leaders. BAR POOL raced evenly without mishap. FREE MEAL began fast and raced with DOC STEARN to the stretch before tiring. WHAT A DAY raced prominently for a half mile, then gave way. RUDY JOE, fractious at the post, showed nothing in the running. AH OUI war never dangerous. Scratched— 70568 OCavvy, 117; 70700 Turban, 110. Overweight— Ah Oui, 4 pounds.
