Coaltown Breezes Easy Five-Eighths in 1:00% Suburban Status to Be Decided On Wrights Arrival at Belmont BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 23. — Coaltown, from the Calumet Farm stable breezed an easy five furlongs in 1:00% through the rain and slop here Sunday morning. The main reliance of the Wright menage for the handicap offerings, he is a Suburban nominee, finished in hand. His status in the Memorial Day ot-fering at Belmont Park is not fully decided, stated trainer H. A. "Jimmy" Jones today. "Mr. Wright will be on this week for several days racing and the subject will be discussed at that time." Assault from the King Ranch, was breezed an easy half mile on Sunday. He galloped along steadily and showed a liking for the slop. Trainer Max Hirsch was well pleased withHhe effort but stated that no date had been selected for his first start. "He is doing nicely, right now" said Hirsch, "and we have our fingers crossed that nothing will go amiss." In addition to Assault, Hirsch worked several better known -members of the King Ranch stable. Better Self, Safe Arrival, and Scattered breezed seven furlongs in 1:28%, while But Why Not and Flying Missile turned in handy efforts over the mile distance. They moved along together to be timed in 1:40%. C. V. Whitneys Phalanx* was given an easy six-furlong breeze in 1:16%, while Capot, from the Greentree Stable, was sent seven furlongs in 1:31%. Capot will remain here for his Belmont engagement.
