. 1 Last Two Days of Spring Meeting at Suffolk Downs New England Scene Will Shift To Narragansett on Wednesday SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 4.— The racing scene in New England shifts to Rhode Island on Wednesday, where Narragansett Park begins their 30-day summer meeting. When the heads of the four New England tracks met during the past winter to straighten out the date schedule for this year, it was necessary for Suffolk Downs to conclude their spring meeting on Tuesday, June 7, in order to complete a 33-day meet. Tuesday being an off day at most tracks in the country, it was deemed advisable to conclude the Suffolk stakes program with todays running of the Yankee Handicap. The final two days of the thoroughbred sport at the East Boston track should continue at a high level despite the absence of featured stakes. Mondays card consists of eight races featured by the Cranberry Purse, an allowance test at one mile and 70 yards for three-year-olds which have not won three races other than maiden or claiming. Included in this bracket and named for the Cranberry are C. V. Whitneys The Blues, W. I. Lunts Knights Cross, Lou W. Johnsons Dougs Reward, D. A. Rosenbaums Friendly Frank, W. J. Leni-hans September and Arnold Stuarts Gold-field. Sharing honors with the Cranberry is a three-year-old dash at six furlongs, styled exclusively for fillies, and has drawn eight highly regarded members of the weaker sex. The complete line-up for the co-feature, named the Sudberry, consists of C. V. Whitneys Silver Crest, Wheatley Stables Quick Retort, Audley Farms Hi Senorita, Wedgemere Farms Bow On, H. G. Bedwells False Front, Lookout Studs Lucky Chips, W. J. Lenihans Risk A Whirl and M. B. Goff s Sorority. The top turf race of the Suffolk Downs spring meeting is slated for decision on, closing day.
