GEORGE improved his position impressively through the stretch. FRIAR TUCK raced with the pace into the stretch and weakened. WILD BULL closed oround. WASSERMATTER had speed in spots. NEW CALEDONIA rallied too late. OMITTED appeared to dislike-the going. MAY FIRST was through early. The race was run in a driving rainstorm and the stewards did not allow a claim of fcul lodged by apprentice Kane, astride NIGHT COUNT, against the winner.
