SILK QUEST came to the rail before reaching the turn, shook off DEPOSIT SLIP when ready and won in hand. SWEET PRYME broke alertly, but was sluggish in the early stages, closed well, but was no match for the winner. DEPOSIT SLIP weakened after forcing the pace until leaving the turn. IN THE MARKET had no excuse. STEVIE DEAR bore in badly through the stretch and had to be taken up to prevent interference. KINGS POINT tired. RHEASTAT was through early. HAY MOM, a sharp factor from the break, disposed of APENNINE when ready and drew out. BLUE WHIRL worked her way between horses after a sluggish start and swerved through the stretch. GOLUPTIOUS, away well, lacked speed to remain prominent, then improved position on th3 inside in the drive. WITH SWORDS, slow to start, closed strongly between horses. APENNINE tired after making the pace until midstretch. TEXAS BLUES had no excuse. CONNIE RAB caught tired horses with a belated bid on the inside. HAPPY DEVIL lacked room on the inside. PURSUED tired, as did BRAVE IRISH. OUR SAM quit. KING WILSON, A SCHEDULED STARTER, WAS WITHDRAWN BEFORE THE FIRST RACE AND ALL WAGERS ON HIM WERE REFUNDED. GUARD OF HONOR, with the leaders from the outside, took command when ready and wen fully extended. ROYAL FLASH was a sharp factor from the break, swung out slightly in the stretch and closed with good courage. SCRAPPY, outrun early, closed with a belated rush. FREE ALL saved ground and had no excuse. BLUE GALLANT was well placed between horses, but lacked a closing rally. LEES BOY tired, as did BUSAGI. BLUE MAN made up ground steadily on the outside throughout and wore down INDIAN LAND in the final stride. The latter vied for the lead with PRIVILEGE on the outside, drew clear between calls in the final furlong and just missed. PRIVILEGE had good speed until the stretch and gave way. WHIRLINGAWAY was shuffled back on the inside nearing the turn and ran wide entering the stretch, carrying out JOLIE BOY. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE. Sheilas Reward, July 5, 1950— 1:09%— 3— 116. MIGHTY QUEST vied for the lead on the rail, swung wide entering the stretch, but was clear of SAGITTARIUS and drew clear in the final furlong. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of SAGITTARIUS was not allowed. The latter dueled for command between the leaders, also swung out leaving the turn and faltered nearing the end. UNCLE EDGAR, far back early, began a strong bid leaving the turn, elected to go to the extreme outside for the drive, closed with a rush and should improve. ASSIGNMENT was on the outside while on nearly even terms for the lead, ran wide entering the stretch and gave way. BIT 0 FATE showed little. OFF AT 4:13 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. COUNTY DELIGHT, in close attendance of the leaders while on the outside, took command midway of the final turn and came to the rail, swung wide entering the stretch and outgamed PALESTINIAN. The latter, within striking distance from the start, went up on the outside to engage the winner on the far turn, was carried slightly wide entering the stretch and missed in a very game effort. GREEK SHIP, reserved until the final turn, moved up quickly when called upon and was bothered slightly through the final furlong when LOTOWHITE bore over on him. The latter trailed until the final turn, improved position from the outside, lugged in through the drive and finished stoutly. ON THE MARK, a sharp factor on the inside, could not be extended when blocked and hemmed in late in the backstretch and final turn, then gave way. LONE EAGLE was pinched back on the rail midway of the first turn, ran forwardly placed on the inside until the final quarter mile and tired. COCHISE bumped with FIRST NIGHTER at the start, made the pace until entering the final turn and dropped back. STEEL BLUE was through after six furlongs. THELMA BERGER. A SCHEDULED STARTER, WAS WITHDRAWN UPON RECOMMENDATION OF THE VETERINARIAN WHILE IN THE PADDOCK WHEN APPEARING TO BE SUFFERING FROM THE COLIC AND ALL WAGERS WERE REFUNDED. GOLDEN TREND, blocked and hemmed in while lugging in badly on the final turn, was forcefully brought around horses to make a bold challenge in the stretch and held on gamely until the end. FANBOROUGH faltered after six furlongs. HULL DOWN gave way when displaced for the lead. NOSUN went into command on the final turn and gave way suddenly in the drive.
