QUICKSET, allowed to race on his own courage early, wrested command leaving the backstretch and held sway under mild urging. LOCK CONTROL improved his position steadily, but was unable to overtake the top one. STROLL was always prominent and continued on evenly. PEACELAW, within striking distance from the start, lacked a rally when set down. GREAT HOPE rallied mildly on the final turn and weakened. PILOGY caught tired horses. GLEN ARVIS held the runnerup position for more than seven furlongs and quit. GILDED FOX quit to a walk. DIXIE YANK was taken back early and failed to seriously threaten. BLUE EGRET raced forwardly, but without a rally. TIPSTAFF was through after six furlongs. FREEZOUT quit. The latter was hard held while racing NEW OXFORD into defeat, drew clear a bit on the turn and held on better than in previous starts this spring. MERE BONES attempted to stay with LARAN while rallying, was eased to the inside in the early stretch and lacked a closing rally. NEW OXFORD raced with the pace and weakened.
