HAZARD OAKS, unhurried while WATEREE held a commanding lead, rallied to pressure to gain command in the late stretch, then held ATOMIC MAID safe. The latter, slow to respond, closed with a rush from the extreme outside. GOLD SCRIPT, always formidable, continued on gamely. FUN FOR ALL closed with good energy to finish in a dead-heat with GOLD SCRIPT. DOROTHYS MISS lacked a late spqrt. WATEREE held a clear advantage to the late stretch and flattened out. HYPERPLAY moved well to midstretch and was blocked. SILVER ACE was badly impeded through the stretch. BRUNHILDE showed nothing. BALLET quit. FENMOUSE faltered badly through the stretch. QUESTION EIGHT, slow to settle info best stride, circled the field while rallying and, in the final stride, wore down AMERICAN NED. The latter raced within easy striking distance, wrested command in midstretch, but could not resist the winner. SEABRIGHT, under restraint early while pressing the pace, assumed a, clear lead on the turn and held on tenaciously. ARABIA was improving her position nicely when taken up sharply on the turn. BAKERS WOOD failed to seriously threaten while rallying. TIMBER TOPPER, in front early, faltered in the real test. KONTINU showed nothing. FACES EAST raced prominently and weakened. WAR AGE, unable, to stay with THE PIMPERNEL early, was steadied briefly and faltered. POTPOURRI failed to threaten while responding. RAIL CREEK could not reach contention, nor could VERY SPECIAL. LET ME THRU engaged the leaders after a mile, responded to strong urging and outfinished EXCITEMENT. The latter was always within striking distance, drove through along the inside to wrest command in the early stretch, then held on tenaciously. BATTLE CRY disposed of PEACELAW soon after six furlongs to gain command, held sway to the stretch and weakened badly in the final test. MY CHRIS moved menacingly on the final turn and weakened. BEACH BOY turned in a poor effort. PEACELAW was through early. EMPTY MOOSE quit. TONY B. was beaten when in close quarters along the inside in the early stretch.
