I I iMIIIlf I — I I I I iMIIIlf I — I I FRANK CATRON E — Revealed that the entire William Helis, Jr., string would be assembled at Delaware Park by the end of the week. Nine Shifty Sprinters Seek Forest Lin Purse Loyal Legion Launches Seasons Campaign in Delaware Park Dash DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 30. — Nine classy sprinters, several of whom have distinguished themselves through stakes victories in recent seasons, are scheduled to compete at the six-furlong distance in tomorrows featured Forest Lin Purse. Possibly the best known member of the field is Walter H. Jeffords Loyal Legion, who will be making his first start since concluding his 1950 campaign as far back as .June. Others in the six-panel dash are: Jerry McCarthys Eagle Eye, Elmdorf s Cornwall, Brookfield Farms Istan, Sam Freenfelds High Trend, M. J. Cremens Be Gracious, John L. McKnights Mr. Buster, Winlochan Stables Adopt and Grant Thorns Scheming World. x Loyal Legion has won numerous stakes events, but apparently the Halcyon gelding is on the downgrade, having failed to give a good account of himself last season in such company. Like the other Jeffords thoroughbreds, he is certain to be in tiptop shape, although it may be a bit early for a winning performance, especially at the distance. A tired-and-true sprinter is Eagle Eye, who won six of 12 races last season and has chalked up a pair of victories in five starts this year. The Vanderbilt-bred son of Discovery last won at Pimlico, having four lengths to spare when timed in 1:114 on the Preakness-day card. Istan, too, has been a stakes winner in previous seasons and will have his preferred distance tomorrow. He has managed to win but one race in five attempts this year, that coming at Garden State in 1:11%. In his most recent essay he was three lengths behind Call Over in the slop. High Trend, is a versatile and useful sort and has raced but three times during the current campaign, turning in his best effort in his most recent start. He was less than a length behind Sun Bahram at a mile and a sixteenth. Improvement can be expected from Cornwall, a son of Some Chance, who recently made his seasonal debut. Now a four-year-old, this fellow was best as a juvenile, being a stakes winner and earning close to 0,000. He failed to finish in the money in five starts last year. Of the others, Mr. Buster seems clearly best at this time. A winner in Maryland, this six-year-old has more recently been in New -Jersey, where he was last a bang-up second to Call Over, beaten but one length. Adopt must improve to rate consideration, while Scheming World was unimpressive in his lone start of the year. Be Gracious, following a spring setback in training, will be getting to the races for the first time this year.
