Knight, owner of Almahurst Farm here, announced today that he had sold the property known as Almahurst No. 2 to Howard M. Reineman and his wife, of Glencoe, 111. The price was not disclosed. Comprised of 1,136 acres, the farm has a one and one -half mile frontage on the Newtown Pike and three-quarters of a mile on the Georgetown Pike. It lies between Coldstream Stud and Spindletop Farm, two of the best-known establishments in the Blue Grass area. The property was formerly part of Coldstream Stud and some three years ago was sold to Knight by E. E. Dale Shaffer. This sale gave Almahurst Farm and Almahurst No. 2 a total of 3,355 acres, making it the largest combined trotting and thoroughbred nursery in the world. When todays sale was completed, Knight leased back the property until November 1, 1951. Reineman is prominent in steel and other industries in Chicago. For some time he and Mrs. Reineman raced a stable of horses in her name. They now plan to spend considerable time at their new farm in the Blue Grass. They have 25 broodmares and intend to acquire more within the year as the nucleus of their thoroughbred breeding activities. They also have 150 head of registered shorthorn cattle. After November, they will rename the farm.
