Hot Springs Group Needs #500 to Save Franchise HOT SPRINGS, Ark., May 30 UP. — Hot Springs civic groups were told by league officials today that unless they raise ,500 "at once," this resort city will lose its Cotton States League baseball franchise. At a mass meeting, ,800 was pledged to buy the franchise, and another meeting was set for Thursday. The Hot Springs Junior Chamber of Commerce which owns the baseball park used by the Bathers, a former Chicago White Sox farm club, scheduled a meeting for tomorrow. Herbert Anderton of Memphis is relinquishing his control of the Bathers because of poor attendance and the general financial straits of the club. League officials said that unless ,500 was forthcoming from Hot Springs interests to buy the Bathers franchise, the league will dispose of it.
