Gallant Fox Will Engage Seven at Fairmount Park Harvest Point, Double Winner at Sportsmans, Makes Debut Today BY PAT CAUDILL Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., May 30. — The scene shifts back to night racing at Fairmount Park tomorrow after a holiday program of afternoon sport on Memorial Day. The Gallant Fox Purse, an allowance affair for three-year-olds and upward, heads the eight-race program and this mile and one-sixteenth contest has drawn seven starters. The purse for the Gallant Fox is ,200. Harvest Point, owned by H. R. Finley, will be making his first trip postward at this meeting and this three-year-old son of Harvesting will, perhaps, draw the major support of the wagering fans. He has scored on two occasions this year, the lat-est being an impressive victory at Sportsmans Park. He gets in with 109 pounds and will be handled by jockey Pat Mullins. Entered to oppose the Finley representative are D. Dockerys Capt. Dorsett, J. H. Nails Turn Back, Mrs, E. Oros Fun Quest, L. B. Lambs Cannoneer, Kelem and Oster-grants Repartee, and Frank Spaniels Roman Pop. Capt. Dorsett scored easily in his outing last Saturday night and shares top weight of 118/ pounds with Turn Back in tomorrows offering. Fun Quest, who gets in with 103 pounds, the lightest weight of the group, was "a strong second in the Norwine Chevrolet, Inc„ Purse when beaten by Dandy G. at the distance of six furlongs and this effort affords the mare a strong chance tomorrow night. Another good event is slated in the fifth race, named for Bubbling Over, and this allowance has drawn seven speedsters to break from the six-furlong chute. H. P. Tripletts Hopeful Sam, who displayed strong speed through the stretch to finish third behind Phantom Sea and Cross Ring in the Fairmount Park Handicap on Saturday night, should be a solid choice in this event. He can expect keenest competition from the Verde Stock Farms ,Gay Trooper, an invader from Phoenix, Ariz., where he earned brackets in his last four . outings and in doing so, handled the better grade racing at the western track. Enoch Reas Jess D., Edward Luthers , Nowloggiri, 5-H Farms Little Jeff, H. E. Rileys Bonipad, and C. C. Hawkins Queen [ Karling complete the field and add to 1 making it an interesting affair. Jess D. had raced well at Chicago before his arrival • here* as did Nowloggin, who won three consecutive races at Sportsmans , Park. Howeyer, he disappointed when | heavily backed in his first outing here, but . must be considered tomorrow night. Other than the feature, the only middle , distance event is the nightcap at one mile and one-sixteenth and here eight will go : postward. Of the field, Shooters Hill, Nictor, and Autumn Eve appear best. Post time for the first race will be 8:30 P, m.
