I Eleven of Better Type Platers Vie at Suffolk Beaming Light and Jeans Jay Regarded as Main Contenders SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 30,— With the majority of the better horses on the grounds being entered for the holiday program, tomorrows card resembles the "calm after a storm." In scheduling eight events, it was necessary to card seven of the numbers for members of the claiming variety, with emphasis on the cheaper grade. The fourth race is the only event which does not carry a price tag and that one is for maiden juveniles at five furlongs. The best offering is the sixth race, a six-furlong dash for four-year-olds and upward which run for a claiming tag of ,Q0Q down to ,000. Eleven have been named overnight to compete with favoritism probably divided between Beaming Light and Jeans Jay. Others in the event are My Freedom* Tulkinghorn, False Front, Hallieboy", U. S. Bound, Eight Bells, Khyber Pass, Coming On and Tubby B. Track conditions will play an important role in determining the size of the field which will parade postward. At the present", the track is knee deep in mud but the prospects of .drying-out weather appear very likely and those who entered for mud will probably decline the issue. After a long stretch of good weather and a fast track, the local scene lias changed considerably in the past few days and the thoroughbreds who do their best on off-tracks have been having their inning. With the 48-hour closing of entries in effect here, horsemen enter their charges and then hope to be satisfied at the quick change in weather that takes place in New England.
