Three Rings Merely Resting CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 9.— Three Rings, the handicap star, will not be absent from competition for the re- ~~ mainder of the season, as reported from Belmont Park yesterday. Mrs. Evelyn L. Hopkins, whose blue and red silks have been carried with distinction by the six-year-old gelding in many important stakes, stated here today that he has been shipped to Doug Davis High Hope Farm at Lexington, Ky., merely for a rest, and not for semi-retirement. "Three Rings will resume racing in the late summer or fall * in New York," said Mrs. Hopkins. "We are merely giving him a respite from training for six weeks or two months. He well deserves it, for he has been racing steadily for three and a half years, or since January, 1947. I doubt that any other American horse has been so active over such a long period. He became a bit jaded, so I decided to let up on him for a spell just to refresh ~ him. Hell be back again, probably in August." |
