UMPYDAN moved between horses to take command soon after the start, set a rapid pace and held on stubbornly when challenged. GALLA BABE, forwardly placed, came through along the rail when roused and" was pressing at the end. SEDULOUS, sluggish in the early stages, rallied to move between horses in the stretch. BIG AND BETTER passed tiring horses. TRU-MISS weakened. NIGHT MAN had no mishap. CRESSON KNIGHT showed nothing. MEZZANINE tired from forcing the pace. WONDER WHY moved up on the outside to take command before reaching the bend on the far turn, drew clear, skirted the inner brush and withstood a sustained drived from FIGHTING DAY. The latter raced in close attendance of the pace, moved up after five furlongs and was pressing at the end. CRACK THE WHIP closed willingly in the late stages. OCEANIA showed a gccd effort. BELRATE saved ground to better late position. TATTOO weakened. PEGASUS II. failed to rally when roused. ABBES FIRST showed a dull effort. MR. DUMJOHN was outrun. CHIP quit. IDIO raced close to the leader under light restraint, came to the outside for the drive and edged away from DOMINAVE in the final sixteenth. DOMINAVE set a rapid nace and held on gamely to the end. KLIMIE, well placed early, saved ground, but was unable to menace. MY FREEDOM closed ground along the inside. BEAMING LIGHT went evenly. FALSE FRONT lacked a closing rally. LEFTY JIM, forwardly placed and saving ground, rallied when roused and just missed. POWER DRUNK forced the early pace, assumed command after a quarter mile, set a rapid pace and held on stubbornly. U. S. BOUND was never far off the pace and held on well. CHARING ROCK passed tiring horses. FLAMING BUSH showed good early speed, but tired in the late stages. BELATED flashed brief speed, then tired. SWADELLE "was outrun. NORWEST stumbled leaving the gate, was taken up sharply and trailed thereafter. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE .out of chute. LAMBENT, unable to keep up early, came through along the inside in the final quarter mile and went out a mile in 1:38%. AUNTIE, in close quarters down the backstretch, lacked a .rally when clear. BERNIE MOOSE, in tight quarters down the backstretch, failed to respond in the final stages. DUKES GAL set a rapid pace to the stretch and tired. OUTLAND raced wide and was sent out a mile in 1:36%. WHIRLING BAT, allowed to drop far off the pace, came through along the inside to make up ground on the turn, attempted to come between horses entering the lane, was bothered slightly and .sent to the inside, then closed willingly DUSTY DEMON, never far off the pace, came through along the rail, swerved out suddenly before being straightened for the drive and continued on well through the final furlong. FLIC FLAC lacked a late rally FIGHTING BACK lost ground on the extreme outside. PICTUS was caught in a jam on the final turn and failed to recover. WAR TOKEN was outrun. CANIS MAJOR improved his position gradually along the inside, came to the outside of the leader entering the stretch, responded to strong pressure and drew clear at the end. WELL WELL, outrun to the final quarter mile, closed with a belated rush on the outside. MARTONNA forced the pace, gained command on the final turn, swerved to the inside, nearly hit the rail, was straightened and continued on gamely. QUIZ ME rallied mildly from far off the pace. OLD BURLAP raced wide early, moved up quickly to challenge the leader, then drifted out through the stretch. MARY BONIFACE was forced wide early and showed nothing thereafter. The latter saved ground while improving position, came between horses and was pressing at the end. HAPPY EAST was forced to lose ground while challenging on the extreme outside. FREEDOM WINS, in hand while setting the pace, was put to strong pressure entering the stretch, but was not good enough. COLUMN, slow to settle into best stride, came around horses when put to pressure, but was unable to menace. HOMING PIGEON forced the pace, moved into command under urging, then faltered.
