KING WILSON went into command and came to the rail before reaching the tum, drew clear when punished in the- stretch and won under mild urging. BAKERS WOOD was hustled along on the outside to improve position and finished resolutely. CARRY ME BACK was a sharp factor from the start, then faltered slightly in the drive. TITLE HOLDER lacked speed. BALBEC was slow to begin, closed well and should improve when sent a longer distance. ARDOCH pressed the pace for a half mile, swerved in the stretch and gave way. THIS SIDE broke sluggishly, gradually made up ground and is eligible to improve off the effort. GABEZ was forwordly placed, but lacked a menacing rally. SLY WITCH faltered in the final furlong. BETTYS ALIBI, never far back but forced to lose ground improving position, closed stoutly to wear down MIGHTY SON in the final stride. The latter went up quickly on the outside to be with the leaders, took a clear lead in the stretch, bore in through the final stages and was disqualified. HOWARD DEAR was shuffled back early, came between horses and finished with good courage. CIRCLED, in good position from the outside, was impeded on the inside nearing the end. TEXAS BLUES had no excuse. DEMAND NOTE lacked a rally. WHITE FLAG caught tired horses. PORT JACKSON quit. PRINCE CENTIVE and LE FIGARO flashed speed, then quit. The latter took command from the break, held on determinedly when challenged, but was not good enough. FLUID GOLD was always prominent, but had nothing left for the drive. BLUE GALLANT had no excuse. HIGH DIVE lost ground. NIOBE had to be steadied when lacking room on the inside and failed to rally when clear. SINGAPORE had early speed and quit. COUNTERPOINT, on ihe rail while in close attendance of the pace, took command "on the outside entering the stretch and won with something left, then completed a mile and a quarter in 2:02. BATTLEFIELD, under hard restraint while on the inside, moved between horses on the turn, came out for the drive and closed with good courage while not seriously menacing the winner, then finished out a mile and a quarter in 2:02%. HALL OF FAME went into command at the break and drew into a comfortable lead quickly, was hard put when threatened leaving the turn and faltered. BATTLE MORN, permitted to run along with BATTLEFIELD while on the outside, attempted to move with the latter leaving the turn, but bore out in the drive. BIG STRETCH, far back early, went by tired horses. OUT POINT ran within striking distance for six furlongs and gave way. FATHER TIBER failed to respond when set down.
