California HBPA to Discuss Del Mar Purse Program HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 28. The California division of the Horsemens Benevolent Protective Association has advertised a general membership i meting Wednesday night at the Inglewood Country Club to "discuss a matter of grave" importance, and that matter, we ; misunderstood, has to do with the Del Mar purse program. It is rumored that horsemen probably will ask that the Del Mar track use 40 percent of its pari-mutuel revenue, .including r the breakage, as a yardstick for purse distribution. ! . So far the Del Mar management has not agreed to this basis of- purse distribution, but countered with an offer of voluntarily increasing purses over their announced program if business warrants. . HBPA national president Robert O. Read I will address the HBPA meeting. s
