POTTERAC outsprinted SIR CROSS for the early lead, saved ground while being rated and clung tenaciously to her narrow advantage". WAC was retrieved almost immediately after unseating her rider at the gate, improved her position from the outside and Just missed. HILKA was always formidable and continued on gamely. AIR QUEEN closed ground, but moved into closer quarters in the final strides. BOOGIE WATCH failed to enter contention. BIG KEIS showed nothing. PASS BOOK broke tardily. REWARD, hard held while in close attendance to ttie pace, assumed command along the backstretch, swerved to the outside and tried to pull . himself up entering the stretch, then was roused sharply and held sway under pressure. BLAZING POMP was always formidable, but was not good enough. McKees claim of foul against the winner seemed frivolous and was disallowed LET ME THRU started his move several times, lacked room at the three-eighths pole and again later on the turn, then closed full of run. JAMP0L, under steadying restraint while within striking distance of the leaders, moved from the outside while challenging and responded to strong urging to outfinish GOLDEN GLOVES. The lattter, always formidable, drove into a slight lead while being carried out a bit by BRUSH BURN entering the stretch, then held on tenaciously. HIGH SCUD broke a bit tardily and was forced to steady when CHELLO came over, improved his position gradually, moved through a narrow opening entering the stretch, challenged for the lead inside the furlong pole and hung. BRUSH BURN gained command when able to move between horses on the final turn, then gave way in the drive. FRED R. set the pace and weakened from his early efforts. SERGEANT MONK, under restraint while being well rated, opened a commanding lead at the half-way mark, shook off ROMAN ROCKET in the early stretch and drew out in the final furlong. ROMAN ROCKET forced the pace from the beginning, moved boldly entering the top of the stretch and faltered at the end. GRAY CHALLENGE, well up early, lacked a closing drive. VILLAGER, close up from the start, challenged on the stretch turn and held on tenaciously. ED THE GREAT, slow to reach best stride, made up ground in the final quarter-mile and pulled up lame. SURPRISING set .the pace and faltered in the late stretch. VIVA BONES had early speed. COLETOWN MAID had early speed. ROCKY REEF was forced wide at the first turn and could not reach contention.
