"LEGS headed EASY SILVER before a half mile had been completed and pulled away on the stretch turn to open up several lengths, but was doing his best at the end to hold HONEST INJUN. The latter lacked early speed, but came very fast through the stretch and was gaining at the finish. PLAY EDA made a good move on the outside through the stretch and was racing well at the end. LICTOR was always fairly well up. NETCHERETTE overcame some trouble to close well. SKY RANGER was never a strong contender. OCCUPATIONAL was wide all the way.. CLABBERING JIM tired. FAST BUCK was never too far from the pacemaker and, coming strongly on the outside of SPY DEFENSE in the stretch, forged to the front of him entering the last sixteenth and was slowly drawing away under hard urging. SPY DEFENSE was away forwardly and gained a narrow advantage when JERRY MY BOY begn to weaken, but was unable to resist the winner and might have needed the race. MOKATUCK improved his position in the stretch and was racing well at the end. JERRY MY BOY weakened. SIDS PRIDE was in close quarters early and had a rather rough trip. HOPJEIDO was never too far from the pace and coming fast on the outside of several horses in the last eighth, got to the front near the end and won in a drive. BESTAPACHE saved ground while forcing the pace and, taking a short lead in the stretch, held on gamely. POCKET ALL came strongly to find an opening near the end and was pressing the first two at the finish. FLYAWAY JACK dropped back when in rather tight quarters nearing the stretch turn, but came again in the final driving. PLAYMAN was in rather close quarters in the stretch, but finished well. SOME LORD was unable to .find sufficient racing room in the last eighth and had a rough trip. SEASONED was in rather close quarters in the stretch. HOBAD weakened in the run home. RAINTREE moved up on the outside nearing the stretch turn and, although forced to go rather wide rounding the turn, passed ARMY CONSCRIPT ,to wear down COLLEGE when straightened out for home and won under hand riding. COLLEGE went to the front on the inside early and withstood a couple of challenges from ARMY CONSCRIPT, then saved ground on the stretch turn to hold on gamely Until the last fifty yards, where he gave way. BREZNO drogped back after breaking well and seemed to be going strongest of all at the end. ARMY CONSCRIPT was used up trying to head COLLEGE and had little left. The others were outrun. DRY RUN was under restraint in the first six furlongs while following the pace closely, then came strongly on the outside to take command when straightened away in the stretch, but was forced to-tto his best coming to the wire to hold his advantage. RECLINE went to the front early and was given a breathing spell nearing the far turn, then saved ground and raced gamely after being headed. KANZA ws outrun early, but closed with good courage. IRISH FLARE raced evenly throughout. LUCKY CODINE failed to threaten, although finishing fairly well. EMERALD tired. THANK YOU SIR pulled himself up at the start and was far back all the way. ELJAY went to the front at once and, taking a good lead in the first quarter, increased it around the far turn and widened farther when he saved ground on the stretch turn, but was hustled along nearing the end to make success certain. VANTAGE, outrun early, made a good move after entering the stretch and, although racing rather wide, was gaining on the winner. JET ACE moved up near the stretch turn, but at no time threatened for the leadership and was doing his best to save third place. TOPSIDE was badly outrun early and closed a gap. OLD FIDDLE was never a contender in racing far below his best form. DARK COUNT was badly outrun. OH LEO, closest to ELJAY for the first six furlongs, quit badly in the stretch. Won driving; second and third the same. WOODCHUCK was under slight restraint while following the pace of ANDY B. W. down the backstretch and made little impression on the latter until after entering the stretch, then came well out from the rail for the drive and, gaining steadily under hard riding, got to the front in the last twenty yards, but was riding his best to hold RUHE. The latter was slow to get into stride and was outpaced early, then saved ground to reach contention and, closing with a rush, might have been the winner in a few more strides. ANDY B. W. dashed to the front soon after the start to open up a god lead and was then taken i nhand, rated judiciously while saving ground and showed the way ttf the final twenty yards, then held on well and was beaten but narrowly. OIL CAPITOL trailed in the early stages and closed a gap to make his move with RUHE and might have been strongest of all at the finish. SPARTAN VALOR broke on top, but was permitted to drop back to permit the others to make the pace, but, although too far removed from the leaders, failed to make an impression when put to the test and tired badly in the last eighth.
