Stall Committee Selected To Screen Del Mar Horses DEL MAR, Calif., June 28. The Del Mar Turf Club announced the appointment of a three-man stall committee to pass on the applications of all horsemen for stable accommodations at the summer meeting opening here july 22. On the board will be presiding steward Wendell P. Cassidy, racing secretary John R. Maluvius and Dr. L. J. Cook, track veterinarian. With more than 1,200 thoroughbreds expected to converge on the seaside course for the 41-day season, the committee will necessarily have to screen the applications, approving horses that fit the Del Mar program. Meanwhile, work is going on daily in preparation for the influx of racers from the north. Resurfacing of the walking rings and stall floors and a general sprucing up of the stable areas under way. A huge new concrete block dormitory has been constructed on the south side stable area. This building will be used to house grooms and exercise boys during the summer season. In addition, the weather-proofing of tent houses so they can be used for permanent tack rooms has been accomplished in the past few weeks.
